梁惠王曰：寡人願安承教。
孟子對曰：殺人以梃與刃，有以異乎？
曰：無以異也。
以刃與政，有以異乎？
Re Hui di Liang disse: “attendo con calma di ricevere le tue istruzioni.”
Mencio rispose: “c’è forse differenza tra l’uccidere un uomo con un bastone o con una spada?”
Il re disse: “no, non c’è nessuna differenza.”
“E c’è forse differenza tra il farlo con una spada o con il tipo di governo?”
King Hui of Liang said: “I wish quietly to receive your instructions.”
Mencius replied: “Is there any difference between killing a man with a stick and with a sword?”
The king said: “There is no difference!”
“Is there any difference between doing it with a sword and with the style of government?”
