Come ogni anno, la ricorrenza del nostro anniversario ci obbliga piacevolmente a fare una piccola riflessione su quello che è stato e sarà l’operato del nostro movimento.
In occasione dei nostri undici anni di attività abbiamo deciso di rinnovare il nostro logo inserendo la scritta INTERNATIONAL per marcare anche con i termini quello che negli anni è diventato una sorta di vocazione del nostro operato. Se infatti, quello di tradurre gli articoli in inglese all’inizio era un modo di lanciare un amo verso l’esterno, oggi è a tutti gli effetti il ponte che collega e unisce i nostri membri ed amici in giro per l’ Europa e non solo.
Negli anni il desiderio di confronto con differenti realtà nazionali ed espressioni culturali ci ha giustamente obbligati a cercare soluzioni e sintesi tra quello che immaginavamo nella nostra mente e quella che era la cruda realtà esterna. Tutto ciò non è stato dettato dal banale compromesso o qualche tornaconto immediato, bensì: dalla necessità pragmatica di convivere pacificamente con chi ci è affine per poter trovare successivamente uno slancio, fosse anche solo una fievole linea comune d'azione e reazione al conformismo che ci circonda. Ovviamente, il tutto filtrato dal Dubbio consapevole e dalle sue conseguenze.
Il pensarci quindi come internazionali ha semplicemente allargato il raggio d’azione del nostro comune agire.
La κοινή (koinè) che noi auspichiamo non è certamente quella linguistica, posto che l’uso dell’inglese è più una concreta necessità che una scelta specifica, ma soprattutto di tipo culturale. Riteniamo che dal confronto, anche spietato se vogliamo, col nostro comune passato, dovranno scaturire soluzioni che ci avvicinino sempre di più alla creazione di una identità culturale condivisa, per raggiungere quella che, come già ribadito in scritti precedenti, crediamo essere la prima reazione verso una possibile Emancipazione dell’Europa da tutti quei diktat esterni che ben conosciamo: una cultura comune, intanto.
Questo lavoro di sintesi però può essere svolto seriamente solo da chi arriva alleggerito dalle proprie zavorre ideologiche.
Tra gli eventi svolti quest’anno segnaliamo quello presso l’Accademia diplomatica di Vienna, in collaborazione con l’Istituto italiano di cultura ed altre realtà locali e siamo in fase di preparazione di una serie di conferenze che si terranno a Parigi nei prossimi mesi.
Continua anche il nostro impegno nel promuovere la cooperazione e il reciproco supporto tra arti e artisti di tutto il mondo con il progetto Bel Esprit. Negli ultimi anni, diversi volti, nuovi e non, hanno arricchito le nostre piattaforme social coi loro contributi e ci auguriamo di poterne vedere ancora altri.
Solo coloro tra di noi che sanno cosa sia la civiltà, solo coloro tra di noi che vogliano letteratura migliore, e non più letteratura, arte migliore, e non più arte, solo da questi ci si può aspettare supporto.

FOR OUR ELEVENTH ANNIVERSARY
As every year, the occasion of our anniversary pleasantly compels us to take a moment to reflect on what our movement has accomplished so far — and on what lies ahead.
On the occasion of our eleven years of activity, we have decided to renew our logo by adding the word INTERNATIONAL. This change highlights, even in form, what has over time become the very vocation of our work. If, in the beginning, translating our articles into English was simply a way of casting a line beyond our borders, today it has become the bridge that connects and unites our members and friends across Europe—and beyond.
Over the years, our desire for dialogue with different national realities and cultural expressions has inevitably led us to seek points of balance between what we envisioned and what we encountered in the external world. This was never the result of mere compromise or short-term gain, but rather of the pragmatic need to coexist peacefully with those who share our sensibility, so that we might eventually find a renewed momentum—even a faint, common line of action and reaction—against the conformism that surrounds us. Naturally, all of this remains filtered through conscious Doubt and its consequences.
Thus, seeing ourselves as “international” has simply expanded the sphere of our shared endeavor.
The koinè (κοινή) we aspire to is not primarily linguistic—since our use of English stems more from practical necessity than from deliberate choice—but rather cultural. We believe that from the confrontation, even a harsh one if needed, with our shared past, there must emerge solutions that draw us closer to the creation of a common cultural identity. This, as we have reiterated in earlier writings, is in our view the first true step toward the possible emancipation of Europe from the external diktats we all know too well: first and foremost, through a shared culture.
Such work of synthesis, however, can only be undertaken seriously by those who have freed themselves from the ballast of ideological burden.
Among the events of this year, we highlight the one held at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute and other local organizations, and we are currently preparing a series of conferences to be held in Paris in the coming months.
Our commitment to promoting cooperation and mutual support among the arts and artists from around the world continues through the Bel Esprit project. In recent years, several faces — both new and familiar — have enriched our social platforms with their contributions, and we hope to see many more in the future.
Only those of us who know what civilization is, only those of us who want better literature, not more literature, better art, not more art, can be expected to pay for it.
